About the Log

The Log is displayed at the bottom of the screen each time you perform a basic operation on objects, such as checking, deleting or sending to Server. The Log displays the four following categories of message:

Indicates information about the operation Information about the operation

Normal error indicator Normal error

Warning

Serious error indicator Serious error

Errors are typically caused by a problem in a specific field of an object. For direct access to those fields and those objects, double-click the error in the Log. Composer automatically opens the Properties window for the appropriate object, and displays the tab and field that caused the error.

Filtering the Log

To filter the messages displayed in the Log, right-click in the Log pane and deselect Show Warnings from the contextual menu. Warning messages will not be displayed. To remove the filter, right-click in the Log pane and select Show Warnings from the contextual menu.

Masking the Log

To mask the Log, right-click in the Log pane and select Mask from the contextual menu. Alternatively, toggle the Log pane option on the Display menu to hide or display the Log.

Clearing the Log

To clear the messages currently displayed in the Log, right-click in the Log pane and select Clear from the contextual menu.

Displaying a log file

For certain operations, a log file is available that provides more detailed information about the operation. In this case, a message of the following type is displayed:

Axway Server <LB28765>: logfile available: <UIP_Tue_Apr_20_10_35_33_CEST_2004.log> (double-click to open in a browser)

Double-click the message in the Log to open the log file in a browser.
