Monitoring Integrator processes: Overview

Monitoring Integrator with Sentinel

You can use Sentinel to collect information about the business and technical process events that occur in Integrator. Sentinel enables you to generate graphic views of these events.

Sentinel provides you with tools that help you create pre-programmed automatic responses to specified network conditions. Using these tools, you can configure Sentinel to act immediately to handle exceptional and/or abnormal integration processing events and statuses.

Monitoring technical data

In Integrator, the Sentinel Connector collects technical data on all events that are logged in the Integrator Message Log. Two types of Sentinel Tracked Objects handle the technical data:

Monitoring business data

The characteristics of your business monitoring configuration depend on your production environment and therefore are not predefined in the Integrator Sentinel Connector. You create definitions of user-defined Tracked Objects in Composer. In Integrator, you can deploy a Map-Broker and an associated Business-Document to provide data to Tracked Objects. You can also create customized Integrator-extending programs known as Message Flow Components, that send customized notifications to Sentinel.

How the collected data is handled

When you have implemented monitoring services between Integrator and Sentinel, Integrator collects technical and/or business data and sends this data to Sentinel in the form of a Tracked Event message. Sentinel extracts the data and records it in the database in the form of a Tracked Event record. You can then use Sentinel features to recover, organize and display the stored data.
