Sentinel Universal Agent for Transfer CFT

Transfer CFT includes native Sentinel agents that collect information about processing events that occur on the application. The agent then sends the collected information to Sentinel to be stored and processed. These messages are processed in Sentinel using the XFBTransfer and XFBLog Tracked Objects.

In some cases you may use scripts in Transfer CFT (for example cronjob or exec scripts) that generate events with characteristics not covered by the native Sentinel agents. In this case you can send the event information to Sentinel using the TRKUTIL program that is included in the Sentinel Universal Agent.

The Sentinel Universal Agent is a set of processes that you install on the same platform as an application you want to monitor. The UA includes the Sentinel Tracking API and the Sentinel script (TrkUtil), which enable you to program most applications (Axway or third-party) to send event-related messages to Sentinel.

Both the Tracking API and TrkUtil operate via functions and message formats that are delivered with the Universal Agent. You can also use the functions of the Tracking API and TrkUtil to create files that save unsent event messages and store messages for batch processing. The Tracking API and TrkUtil send messages to Sentinel via the QueueLess Transport (QLT) protocol. QLT is an Axway proprietary protocol that runs over TCP/IP.

You install the Universal Agent using the Axway Installer. It is an optional installation not required for standard Sentinel operations.

For detailed information about installing the Universal Agent, refer to the Axway 5 Suite Installation and Prerequisites Guide.
