Adding a user in PassPort

About the user

In PassPort, a user is the identity of an account that has privileges (rights) and resides in a domain. Add a user in PassPort who possesses all access rights for the Axway product.

Procedure

  1. In the PassPort user interface, select Access > Users and organizations.
  2. Click the New user icon.
  3. PassPort opens the "New user" configuration wizard
  4. In the General information screen, complete the fields:
  5. Click Next.
  6. In the "Select groups" screen, you can select a group to be the parent group for the user, if one or more groups exit. If no group is displayed, select Next to continue.
  7. In the "New user" screen, select the administrator role for the product.
  8. For example, if you are creating an access management user for Gateway, select the GatewayAdmin role for the user.
  9. Click Finish.
  10. Close your PassPort user interface session and log on as the user you just created.
  11. PassPort prompts you create a new password.
  12. Enter a new password, confirm, and click OK.

After you create the user

After you select PassPort AM as the access management mode for a product, and create a PassPort user with an administration role for this product, PassPort becomes the user access controller.

When the user starts the product or attempts to connect to the product, the product sends an authentication request to PassPort. PassPort then checks the database for a user/password with the product administrator role. If all of these elements are correct, PassPort responds with a confirmation and the user can connect. If the user, password or role are not correct, the user is refused access.
