Required ports for NFS Live Storage
Problem
What ports need to be opened in the internal network to be able to configure NFS Live Storage on MailGate?
Resolution
The minimum requirement is to have the RPC service / portmap, port 111 on the NFS server accessible. That allows the client - MailGate, to connect to the server on port 111 and discover which ports are used by the NFS server and use them accordingly.
- Case I (Standard ports): 111, 2049 and 4001, 4002, 4003* (TCP/UDP)
- Case II (Non-standard ports): 111, 2049 and NFS storage required ports** (TCP/UDP)
* Ports 4001,4002 and 4003 are standard ones (most commonly used). Alternative ones are also possible as result of negotiation with RPC service.
** MailGate must have explicit access to any custom ports on the NFS server.
*** Port 111 outbound for MG must be enabled.
