KB Article #163049
High CPU utilization on the primary appliance
Problem
- High CPU utilization and load on the primary appliance
Other symptoms:
- High CPU alerts on the dashboard
- Slow response on the primary appliance UI
- HTTP or SOAP errors when tracking message in the UI
- HTTP or SOAP errors when releasing messages from Message Tracking page
- Replication not working
Resolution
The most likely cause for the problem based on the above symptoms is the number of email volume statistics and connections volume statistics being kept in MailGate's database.
As full investigation on this problem and its eventual resolution require backend access, in order to resolve this issue you must call Axway Global Support.
NOTES:
**In MailGate, there is an appliance statistics table in that contains various reports like Email Volume Report and Dashboard. In order for the primary MailGate in a cluster, to build complete dashboard reports, it needs to retrieve the statistics from the tables of each member of the cluster. The referenced problem could occur if that table has become too large.
Due to the amount of data to transfer, the cluster service - called MGSOAP, will become overloaded, causing high consumption of CPU and increase appliance load. This could also lead to performance issues.
