How to extract a FED file from a non-working API Gateway
Problem
* An API Gateway instance is not working and you wish to extract a FED file from it with your configuration.
Resolution
-- The information from the FED is stored inside the install directory in /groups/group-X/conf/ Older versions had a /fed directory in there with the current FED while modern versions have an archive ID as the folder name, for example 3bfba35e-9d4c-4d45-8add-b77f89e8937c. There may be multiple folders with such names, in which case you can tell which one was most recently in use by looking at the esid property in /groups/group-X/instance-Y/conf/esid.xml which will be the same as the folder name with your config.
This entire folder should be copied off the system and over to a machine with Policy Studio. In Policy Studio, use the "Open File" option on the left side of the screen. Note that the "Open File" option is only visible when you are not connected to a Node Manager. Then open configs.xml from within the folder you copied and choose File | Save | Deployment Package to save it as a FED file. You can now deploy the FED file to a different, working instance or save it as a backup.
