Starting Sentinel Monitoring

Prerequisites

1. Using the Axway Installer:
   • Install Axway Database (or alternatively, install a third-party database)
   • Install Axway Sentinel
   • Install Sentinel Monitoring
2. For details about Axway product installation, refer to the Axway 5 Suite Installation and Prerequisites Guide.
2. Start the database.

Starting Sentinel Monitoring

To start the Sentinel Monitoring web application you must start the Tomcat server:

1. Navigate to the directory:
2. [Axway home installation directory]/Tools/apache-tomcat-5.5.27/bin/
2. Run the script:
3. startup.sh (UNIX) or startup.bat (Windows)

Providing access to Monitoring

After you start the Tomcat server, you can provide access to Monitoring from a website.

To access the interface from a website, add a Sentinel Monitoring hyperlink to a web page of the website. This feature is called the remote control function.

The remote control function provides a remote control URL. You can pass parameters via the URL to directly influence the behavior of Sentinel Monitoring when it is launched from the website. For example, you can specify that the login to Sentinel Monitoring is automatic or that a predefined Request is executed immediately after login.

The remote control URL has the following form:

http://<Tomcat server hostname>:<Tomcat HTTP port number>/SentinelMonitoring/SentinelMonitoring
