About ASP

Introduction

An Application Service Profile (ASP) specifies the properties of a SWIFT service. The ASP contains a set of parameters decided by the Service Administrator when defining the service. The ASP is used by messaging interfaces and applications to correctly send and receive traffic for that service.

These parameters trigger the use of features within SWIFTNet or describe what a messaging interface must do with traffic sent or received.

The ASP contains the following parameters available for SWIFTNet services:

RMA-related parameters:
- Whether and how the RMA authorizations are exchanged (the use of RMA is defined per request type pattern)
- Whether and how the RMA filtering is applied (the use of RMA is defined per request type pattern)
- The date from which RMA will apply, if it applies
- The request types for which RMA is required
- Whether or not local/bootstrapped authorizations are allowed
- The date from which the RMA protocol must be used to exchange authorizations
End-to-end signing required and what format the signature can have
Non-repudiation signing required
Store-and-forward usage
SWIFTNet Copy parameters
- Copy usage (forbidden, optional, mandatory)
- Copy mode (T-copy, Y-Copy, list of third parties
HeaderInfo usage (summary of the business data inserted within the request envelope)

ASP package

The use of the ASP by the SWIFTNet InterAct and FileAct messaging interface is an optional feature. However you require ASP as soon as RMA filtering is enabled within the interface.

SWIFT provides an ASP package which is a ZIP file containing one file per service. SWIFT updates the ASP package periodically.

You can download the ASP package from the SWIFT Download Center at www.swift.com. Make sure you download the latest ASP package and import the ASP files to FEX RMA.

When emergency updates have to be done, a new file is made available for download with a description of the changes that have been implemented. The service administrator requesting these emergency updates will inform the members of the service(s) if the update requires the latest version to be used.
