Reports are blank.

Reports are blank.

Symptom:

Message Volume & Size reports run successfully but come up with no data.

Detailed Information:

The volume and size reports in particular are populated by a job run in SQL. If that job has not run for some reason, those reports would be blank, but others like "Frequent Receiving Domains" would be fine.

Resolution:

If it is just your volume reports that are blank, go into SQL Enterprise Manager, and check to see if the SQL Server Agent is running. To do this, expand the server, then expand the Management folder. If the agent is not running, right click on it and select Start. You may also want to go to the services control panel and set the service (SQLSERVERAGENT) to start automatically.

Once you have verified that the SQL Server Agent is running, expand the agent and select Jobs. You will see at least 4 jobs relating to EMF listed:

Cleanup Tables
Create Summary Tables
Queue Aging Actions
Queue Thresholds

Review the status of the Create Summary Tables job. If the SQL Service Agent was not started previously, this job may not have run before. It should run within an hour of starting the Agent -- at that time your Volume and Size reports should contain data.

If the SQL Service Agent was running all along, there may be some error indicated next to the Create Summary Tables job that will tell you more about why it failed. If the failure reason is not apparent from the Jobs screen or from the SQL Server Logs (also under the Management folder in Enterprise Manager), contact technical support.
