Virus pattern updates fail through proxy server (case study)

Summary:
This specific solution may not work in all cases, but is meant as a troubleshooting tip for customers downloading using a proxy server.
Symptom:
Virus pattern updates fail even though EMF is correctly configured to use a proxy server.
Connecting to the download server via a browser or command line FTP from the server where the EMF Download service is running is successful.
Detailed Information:
The specific proxy server used in this case is not known, but a customer in the field reported that he was not able to download when EMF specified the directory "/antivirus" but changing the specification to "/antivirus/" worked.
Resolution:
This change is not necessary for most customers, but can be tried when troubleshooting virus pattern downloads with a proxy server.
- In SQL Enterprise Manager, select Tables under the MMSMail database.
- Right click on the DownloadSvcConfigValues table and choose: Open Table > Return all Rows.
- In the FTP Directory row, change the ansiStringValue from: /antivirus
to: /antivirus/
- Close Enterprise Manager and restart the MMS Download Service.
