Using FaceTime with EMF

Using FaceTime with EMF

Summary:

FaceTime has a component/tool that can wrap IM (Internet Messaging) traffic into and SMTP wrapper. This wrapped message can be sent as an outbound message to EMF for processing and archiving.

Detailed Information:

FaceTime IM Auditor is a leading IM compliance workflow solution for government-regulated companies, such as financial services. IM Auditor captures, stores, monitors, and retrieves all IM messages sent and received. It is a software server solution installed behind enterprise firewalls to support IM services from all the major IM network providers, including AOL, Communicator Inc., Microsoft, Yahoo!, Reuters and IBM Lotus.

FaceTime can be used with EMF in the following way. FaceTime has a component/tool that can wrap IM traffic into and SMTP wrapper. This wrapped message can be sent as an outbound message to EMF for processing and archiving. The usual way to implement this is to have FaceTime SMTP-wrap the IM message, place a new 'X-mailer: FaceTime' header in the wrapped message, and send it directly to the EMF server. EMF can then use a policy to recognize the X-mailer header, and archive the message.
