CFT retry feature to restart failed transfers appears as not working

Problem

Some expected transfer retries are not working?

The requester gets messages:

CFTH13E FPDU Remote reject

and

CFTT71E remote creation reject at restart time

The receiver gets messages:

CFTT05E _ Restart Failed ....

and

CFTT00E CFT request warning - Transfer already in progress

Resolution

When a requester detect a network issue, depends of the parameters, retry will be attempted.

Also, the delay in between retry can be set.

If a retry is attempted while the initial receiver did not registered (yet) the network issue or at latest, the local RTO, the transfer is considered as already running and the restart request will be refused.

1) check that the network firewalls or routers are not set to drop

ICMP messages that will prevent errors to be propagated (when possible)

2) ensure the delay for retry is not less than the remote RTO, in case one side is waiting for data and do not receives the network error indication, it will ensure the transfer is interrupted for RTO reason and will accept the restart from the requester.

A transfer seen as active already cannot accept a restart request.
