Change of SecureTransport IP/Hostname, checklist
What we have to take into consideration when we need to change the IP address or the hostname of the SecureTransport (ST) server?
Resolution
The following areas in SecureTransport will be affected by a change in the IP/hostname and should be reviewed and edited accordingly.
The Appliance's Network settings
Update the settings using the YaST utility:
1. Type yast in the command shell.
2. Navigate to YaST → Network Devices → Network Card, select the network card, click on Change, then click on Edit. Edit the settings to match the new IP/hostname.
3. A restart of all ST services after the IP change is mandatory, since the daemons need to reload the settings.
Other platforms (OS) network settings
For any other platforms, different than the Axway Appliances, change the Network settings according to the specific OS requirements.
ST servers, OS level
Verify and update the IP/hostname in the following files:
1. /etc/hosts file (Linux/Unix distributions).
2. %WINDIR%\System32\drivers\etc\hosts (Windows only).
3. $FILEDRIVEHOME/lib/admin/config/servers file (in case of an ST cluster).
ST servers, Admin UI, Backend servers
Verify and update accordingly:
1. The correct Edge IP/hostname under Setup → NetworkZones .
2. AS2 server settings under Setup → AS2 Settings, if used.
3. Check also for any hardcoded IPs on the Operations → ServerConfiguration page.
4. In case you are running an Enterprise Cluster, add the new IPs on the Operations → Cluster Management page.
ST servers, Admin UI, Edge servers
Verify and update accordingly:
1. The Allowed ST servers list under Setup → Allowed ST Servers page.
ST servers, licenses
The ST licenses are tied to the IP or the hostname of the server - which one exactly depends on how you've requested the licenses to be issued for the first time. If the licenses are issued for the IP, by changing the IP, the licenses would be invalidated and could no longer be used for the same server. If the licenses are issued for the hostname, and it is kept even with the new IP, the licenses will still be valid.
Environment (Network connectivity)
Verify and/or update the settings/rules for the new IP/hostname in the devices in the environment - DNS, Firewalls, Load Balancers, etc.
