Object Browser freezes after clicking "Show in OFTP Monitoring"

Problem

-- Object Browser was started on a client machine with OFTP Monitoring installed

-- OFTP Monitoring was not yet started

-- Right-click -> "Show in OFTP Monitoring" was clicked

-- OFTP Monitoring perpective does not open, but Object Browser freezes and needs to be restarted

Resolution

*There is a bug, that causes this issue. This functionality will only work after the Object was started.

The current best workaround is to always start OFTP Monitoring instead of Object Browser. To change the default perspective/view when starting Object Browser from disk, do the following:

  1. Menu: Window -> Preferences
  2. General -> Perspectives
  3. In "Available perspectives" select "OFTP"
  4. Click "Make Default"In order to switch to the Object Browser:

From now on, OFTP monitoring is started first when Eclipse is opened from the disk, to switch back to the Object Browser perspective:

  1. Window -> "Open Perspective"
  2. Select "Object Browser" and click "OK"
  3. Once the perspective opened, go to the "Server" menu -> Login
  4. Type information or use the Quick Selection.

Another option to prevent clicking this feature by accident is to have separate Object Browser and OFTP Monitoring installations on the local system. As long as the OFTP Monitoring is not installed in the same installation folder, the option is disabled (greyed out) and cannot be clicked.
