WEB CLIENT: Increase the number of simultaneous downloads
Problem
When 10 files are selected for downloading in the Web Client, only several files will start downloading and the others will stay in "pending" status. Does Secure Transport web client have limitation of concurrent downloads?
Resolution
By default, Chrome lets you download five or six files simultaneously because that is the default value in most Windows installations. If you attempt to download more than five files, Chrome will place some of the files in a queue and then download them as soon as one of the five slots becomes available. Chrome does not allow you to change the number of concurrent downloads within the application itself. However, by editing the Windows Registry, you can set the number of simultaneous downloads in Chrome, or any other Chromium-based web browser.
Click the Start button, then type "regedit" in the search box. Press the Enter key or click the magnifying glass icon. The Windows Registry Editor appears on the screen.
Click HKEY_CURRENT_USER in the left pane of the Registry Editor window. Navigate to the Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings value.
Click the Edit menu bar option. On the drop-down list, click New, then DWORD (32-bit) Value. After the New Value #1 text box appears in the right pane of the window, replace the default text with MaxConnectionsPerServer and press the Enter key.
Double-click the new MaxConnectionsPerServer key in the right window pane. Enter a number greater than five in the Value Data box. For instance, if you want to download ten files at once, enter "10" in the box and click the OK button.
Create another DWORD (32-bit) Value key using the same technique you used to create the MaxConnectionsPerServer key. Rename the new key MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server.
Double-click the MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server key. Enter the same number you entered for the MaxConnectionsPerServer key in the Value Data box and click OK.
Click File, then Exit to close the Windows Registry Editor. Restart the computer.
Launch Google Chrome on your PC. Chrome now allows concurrent downloads up to the value you specified in the Windows Registry.
