How to update webapps files (XPP server listening port, JDBC database URL, etc.)
Resolution
The files under the <Vantage_home>/server/synchrony-vantage/webapps/ subdirectories must not be modified directly. These subdirectories represent Vantage web applications stored inside the corresponding .war files, web applications that will be redeployed after any PassPortVantage patch application.
THIS IMPLIES THAT MODIFIED FILES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN AND ALL MODIFICATION WILL BE LOST.
To avoid this, you must not modify the files under these subdirectories, but instead modify the .war file directly. Here is the procedure to follow:
1 - Make a backup copy of the .war outside of the webapps directory. Warning: it is very important for this copy to be made *outside* of the webapps directory.
2 - .war files are standard .zip files with a .war extension. Unzip .war file backup or, if you are under Windows, you can use a tool like Total Commander to make changes directly inside the compressed file.
3 - Make your needed changes, and then recompress all the extracted files to rebuild a new .war file with the same name as the original one.
4 - Stop Vantage,
5 - Delete the <Vantage_home>/server/synchrony-vantage/webapps/ subdirectory corresponding to your .war file (do not delete the webapps directory itself!),
6 - Replace the original .war file under <Vantage_home>/server/synchrony-vantage/webapps/ by your new version. Do not forget there must not be different version of the same .war file under the webapps directory.
7 - Start Vantage. The webapps subdirectory will now be automatically regenerated using your new .war file after the first access to Vantage interface. In case of error, please check your .war is valid compared to the original one.
