KB Article #71264
Unclassified message category
-- unclassified
-- spam size
-- limit
Unclassified category is comprised of messages that are not scanned for spam for various reasons, including:
- Email sent to Postmaster and Super Admin email addresses
- Email exceeding pre-defined message size limits
- Email Sent to Regular Expression users
- Malformed messages that cause server errors
Resolution
By default, the Anti-Spam Engine (DAS) does not scan messages larger than 200 KB. Since our statistics show that about 99% of all spam is below 200KB, this limit has been set in MailGate with the purpose to preserve resources by only scanning spam-like sized messages.
This setting can be adjusted under Admin UI -> Mail Policies -> Anti Spam -> Settings. Values above 200KB are not recommended because increasing the size may significantly decrease the performance of the MG and will result in slower message processing. For further information about increasing the value please contact Axway Support.
Regular Expression users are special system accounts including:
^ime_mailer.*
^secure-server@.*
^secureMailer\.[a-z]+-[0-9]+-[a-zA-Z0-9]+@.*
^vpn-request@.*
^vpn-response@.*
Malformed messages are messages that might cause the Policy Engine to fail. Those are either:
- Emails that has been created in a way that violates the MIME or other Internet mailing standards. Spammers often use malformed messages to crash mail servers with Denial of Service (DoS) attacks.
- Messages with attachments that the policy engine fails to process thus it will tag them with Internal Error. If such message is found, please get a copy of it and send it to Axway Global Support for investigation.
