How to define a List

About List objects

List objects group a set of objects of the same type. Lists are useful, not only for organizational purposes, but principally if you need to make the same modification to a group of objects. Via a single operation, you can modify all objects included in the List.

A List can only contain objects of the same type, for example, a List of Axway Servers. However, you can include the same object in more than one List. In addition, a List can include other sub-Lists.

Before you define a List

Define the objects that you want to include in the List.

Defining a List

To define a new List object:

  1. Right-click TopographyObjectList node in the left pane of the Topography workbench.
  2. Select List from the contextual menu.
  3. Complete the following tabs on the List window:

Contents

Name

Enter a mandatory name for this List. Respect the naming conventions. The name you enter here is used to reference a given List throughout the software.

Label

Enter an optional free-text description for this List. This text only appears on this tab.

Status

This field displays the current status of the List, set to ToBeChecked by default. You cannot directly change the status in this field. [FOR DETAILS: life cycle and statuses]

List type

From the drop-down list, select the List type:

  • ServerList
  • CommAdapterTemplateList

 

Completing the Properties tab

This tab contains the list of all available Server or CommAdapterTemplate objects. Use the arrows in the middle of the tab to add objects to the List or remove objects from the List.
