One-page summary: the global procedure

The previous topic summarizes the set of tools Axway Composer provides to help you work faster.

This topic summarizes the global procedure for working with the product. Keep in mind, however, that Axway Composer is both powerful software, and complex software. It is difficult to provide a "one-page summary" for how to use it, particularly since the way you use the product depends very much on the Axway product(s) that you are using. With that in mind, this topic provides a general approach or framework for starting to use the Axway Composer product.

Procedure Details
  1. Define user rights.

In the Administration workbench, define user access rights to:

  • Folders and Enviornments
  • Workbenches
  • Operations
  • Axway Servers (resource tags)
  1. Set up the technical infrastructure.

In the Topography workbench, define the technical infrastructure objects required for production. In this layer of the software, you define the following elements:

  • CommNetwork
  • Host and optionally HostGroup
  • Axway Server, including CommNetwork, CommAdapter and CommPoint parameters
  • Broadcast Agent parameters
  1. Check the Topography objects and send them to Server.

Use the Check function to verify that the object definitions are correct.

When your configuration is validated, send the Axway Server definition to Server.

  1. Define the logical infrastructure.

In the Integration-Services workbench, define the objects specific to the Axway product that you are using.

Create the Partners or Applications that you want to communicate with, and the Channels that serve as the communication path between the software objects.

  1. Check the Integration-Services objects and send them to Server.

Use the Check function to verify that all object definitions are correct.

After validating the object definitions, send them to Server on one or more Axway Servers. Alternatively, create a configuration container containing these objects and deploy it to your run-time environment.
