About the Topography workbench

The Topography workbench  is where you design the static portion of the Composer infrastructure, that is, the physical communication attributes for each Axway software product (network type, protocol, operating system, and so on). In Axway Composer terminology, the Axway software product is referred to as the Axway Server.

Unlike objects that you define in the Integration-Services workbench, Topography objects are not stored in Folders.

In the Topography workbench, set up the execution environment by defining the following objects:

Topography object

Description

CommNetwork

The telecommunication network used to communicate between Hosts. For example:

  • Intranet
  • Internet
  • Tymnet
  • Transpac, Iberpac...

HostGroup

An optional object provided for organizational purposes only. The HostGroup groups a set of Host machines and their related software.

Host

The host machine where the Axway Server runs. The Host definition includes the operating system type and local access to the CommNetworks.

Axway Server

The run-time part of the Axway product that you install with Composer. When you send your object definitions to Server, you send them to one or more specific Axway Server(s).

A Server corresponds to an instance of one of the following:

  • Sentinel Server
  • Sentinel Event Router
  • Transfer CFT Server
  • Integrator Server
  • AccountingIntegrator Manager
  • ProcessManager Server
  • ProcessManager Workflow Server
  • Messaging Server

For certain Servers, you must define the:

  • CommNetwork: the network used to communicate with this Axway Server, for example TCP.
  • CommAdapter: the protocol used to communicate with this Server, for example FTP.
  • CommPoint: the identification parameters used to access a Axway Server via a given CommAdapter, for example login and password.

TopographyDiagram

An optional graphical tool that enables you to view the layout and organization of your infrastructure objects.

Topography List objects

Two types of List object are available in the Topography workbench:

  • ServerList
  • CommAdapterTemplateList

Topography Template objects

Two types of Template are available in the Topography workbench:

  • ServerTemplate
  • CommAdapterTemplate
