About TopographyDiagrams
A TopographyDiagram is the top-level object in the Topography workbench.
The TopographyDiagram is an optional object that serves principally as
a graphical tool that you use to group and organize a subset of the following
Topography objects on a diagram:
- HostGroup
- Host
- Axway Server
- CommNetwork (not
applicable to the Axway AccountingIntegrator product)
Via the TopographyDiagram, you can:
- view the relationship
between the objects
- add CommNetworks
to Host objects (not applicable to the AxwayAccountingIntegrator
product)
For example, you can see which Axway Servers are located on a given
Host machine, define which communication network(s) a Host uses, and group
a set of Hosts in a HostGroup object.
The way you define your TopographyDiagram, or in other words, the way
you add objects to the Diagram, depends on your starting point. The Diagram tab provides three alternative
starting points for defining a TopographyDiagram:
- You have defined
no metadata objects: In this case, define new objects on the Diagram in
a top-down
approach.
- You have defined
all required HostGroups, Hosts, Axway Servers and CommNetworks: In
this case, drag-and-drop existing objects onto the Diagram in a bottom-up
approach.
- You have defined
some, but not all, of the required objects: In this case, mix the definition
by using some existing, previously defined objects and creating some new
objects directly on the Diagram.
