Starting Axway Sentinel

Prerequisites

Using the Axway Installer:
- Install Axway Database (or, alternatively, a third-party database)
- Install Axway Sentinel
For details about Axway product installation, refer to the Axway 5 Suite Installation and Prerequisites Guide.
Start the database.

Starting Sentinel

Windows (non-service mode)

Navigate to the Sentinel installation directory and enter the command: startserver.bat

The Sentinel server console (or the sentinel.log file if the console is redirected to a file) displays the following message: "[STARTED] FrontEnd server"

Windows service mode

During installation you can choose to run Sentinel as a Windows service. This causes the server to start and stop with the machine on which it is installed.

If you need to start the Sentinel server with Windows already running:

From the Windows Start menu, select Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
Windows displays the Services window.
Scroll down the Services list and right-click the Sentinel service.
From the context menu, select Start.

UNIX

Navigate to the Sentinel installation directory and enter the command: / startserver

The Sentinel server console (or the sentinel.log file if the console is redirected to a file) displays the following message: "[STARTED] FrontEnd server"
