Remote Admin- current virus pattern file not available - MMS 3.x and 4.x

Summary:

This problem is a display limitation of the remote admin tool.

Symptom:

In the remote admin MMS Configuration tool, the virus manager properties, Network Associates tab displays "current pattern file not available" instead of the current pattern file number.

Details

This problem is a display limitation of the remote client. The remote client does not know the current pattern file number, because it does not read the pattern file directories on the MMS server. To see the current pattern file number, you must open the virus manager properties in the MMS Config tool on the MMS server.

Resolution:

This is just a display limitation of the remote client. MMS server virus protection will operate correctly.

This problem is specific to MMS 3.x and 4.x. Later MMS versions handle administration differently, and thus this problem will not exist.

Additional Info:

There are other features of the 3.x and 4.x remote client Config tool that do not operate as they do in the MMS server Config tool. In later MMS versions, remote administration is a central feature, and handled completely differently then in prior versions. Thus, these 3.x and 4.x remote client/server discrepancies will not be addressed.
