Error- Redirect package constraint xxxx

Error- Redirect package constraint xxxx
This article was previously published as ID#30020

Summary:
When sending an email via MMS that gets Redirected for encryption, the sender receives the following error:

Error Code = xxx Information equal package constraints: Locked value validation failed.

Detailed Information:
The Redirect Profile on MMS and the Account Type settings on IME define the characteristics of a Redirected package, such as the maximum package size, the maximum number of recipients allowed, the allowable security settings, how far in the future an expiration date can be set, and the size limit for replies.

In general, each value defined in the Redirect Profile on MMS has a corresponding value in the associated IME Account Type. When MMS Redirects a package to IME, it uses the values in the Redirect Profile to create the package. If any of the values used by MMS exceed or violate constraints defined by the associated Account Type on IME, the package will not be created and the particular constraint error will be returned to the sender (and logged to the event log).

For example, if the MMS Redirect Profile indicates a package expiration date of 30 days in the future and the relevant Account Type on IME is set to allow a max expiration of 10 days in the future, the package will be rejected by IME with a constraint error.

Within the Account Type on IME, many package constraints provide the option to "Allow Sender to Set". This controls whether these options are provided by senders creating packages directly in the IME web interface. But it also has another consequence that can cause constraint errors. When packages are Redirected by MMS, the IME account defined with the package sender's email address is used to create the package. For package settings where the option to "Allow Sender to Set" is unchecked in the Account Type, the value used in the MMS Profile must match exactly with what is used in the associated Account Type on IME, or a package constraint error will be returned. This is because the "Allow Sender to Set" option prevents packages from being created with values that differ what what is set in the Account Type.

Resolution:
Resolving such package constraint errors is always a matter of matching the package settings between the Redirect Profile on MMS and the relevant Account Type on IME. In general, what's defined in the IME Account Type for each package setting must be inclusive of the setting used on MMS. If the "Allow Sender to Set" option is not checked, the values must match exactly.
