Symptom:
After installing the Dynamic Anti-spam service on top of MMS 5.5 patch 2, the MMS Spam Analysis Engine service fails to start with the error:

Error 997: Overlapped I/O operation is in progress

Detailed Information:
This error can occur if there is no spam filter in the database, or if the spam filter stored in the database is somehow invalid.

This was seen in one situation where for an undetermined reason, the default spam filter was not loaded into the database. In this case, the server was not yet on the network and unable to connect to the Tumbleweed site to download the latest filter.

Resolution:
In SQL Enterprise Manager, expand the MMSMail database under the Databases folder, select Tables, then in the right-hand pane, right click on the AntiSpamFilters table, select Open Table/Return All Rows.

If this table is EMPTY, the service will be unable to start. Connecting to the network and letting the MMS Dynamic Anti-spam Update service download the latest filter should correct the problem.
