Detailed Information:

This problem is fixed as of EMF 5.0 Patch 4. A hotfix for patch 3 is also available from The Tumbleweed Technical Assistance Center.

The problem results from EMF mishandling large messages when the receiving mail server terminates the connection abruptly rather than sending an SMTP Reply Code. This happens most frequently with messages addressed to webmail systems like Yahoo or MSN, but is not restricted to those systems.

The message may be delivered on the next retry, or it could become "stuck" retrying every 30-60 seconds and blocking the outbound queue.

Resolution:

Upgrade to the latest version of EMF.
