Export and import charts between modeling servers at different service pack levels

Question

How to export a chart from a given modeling server and then import it in another modeling server with a different service pack level ?

Answer

The export will never be an issue, and the import will most of the time work correctly, without any additional action from the user.

However, a few service packs include some data structure modifications, meaning that the concerned objects are no more compatible with the service packs delivered before.

In this situation, when trying to import a chart, a popup with an error message will appear in the GUI (see below for the two different error messages), and the import will fail. An action is needed to make the exported chart compatible with the target service pack level.

1) If export is from a Mod Server with a service pack level lower than the target Mod Server service pack level (e.g. export from SP8, import to SP15)

- When trying to import, the message "DataProvider@$IMPORT_FROMLIST.1111" will popup.

- To fix that, run the "reprise repriseexp" command, located in the bin directory of the target MServer.
This command will automatically modify the exported chart files to make them compatible with the target Mod Server service pack level.

2) If export is from a Mod Server with a service pack level greater than the target Mod Server service pack level (e.g. export from SP15, import to SP8)

- When trying to import, the message "Impossible de récupérer les paramètres des objets"/"Impossible to get objects parameters" will popup.

- This cannot be fixed automatically, the "reprise repriseexp" does not work in this direction. Please open a support case in order to have the export files modified manually.
