How to set up a PESIT transfer

Problem

Setting up a PESIT transfer: the basics

Resolution

If you're using Gateway as a PESIT client:

1. Set up a local site, and name it whatever you want (it can be the default one, whose name is equal to the local site alias). The only settings needed in it are the alias and the protocol identifier (which usually will be the same).

2. Set up a remote site, named with the identifier of the remote site to which you'll be connecting.

On the first tab, set the protocol to PeSIT E, set the "Partner local alias" to the name of your local site (from step 1), and check at least the Initiator/Sender role, the Responder/Receiver role, and the Initiating Site mode.

On the "Network address" tab, set the IP address and port number as needed.

On the PeSIT tab, check the "Restart allowed" and "Resynchronization allowed" checkboxes. Optionally, you can also modify the values of "Synchronization acknowledgement window" and "Interval between synchronization points"; these affect the transfer speed. Don't set anything under "Pre-connection phase" or "Connection phase," unless directed to do so by the administrator of the site to which you will be connecting.

If you're using Gateway as a PESIT server:

1. Set up a local site, as above, using either the local site alias or another string of your choice.

2. Set up a remote site, named with the identifier of the client site that will be connecting to it, as in the instructions above for the client. The exception: you don't need to set anything under the "Network address" tab.

3. Set up a CGateGroup for PeSIT E. Usually you can use the default, GPHSE. Make sure it's enabled, and that a template site is not defined in it.

4. Set up a CGate within this group, or use the default one, PHSE. Make sure it's enabled. No other settings need to be changed in it.

5. Check your Gateway general configuration, and make sure that under Connection Control, the value for "Connection control method" is CGate. (In versions of Gateway in which this is selectable per protocol, make sure it's set this way for "Phse.")
