How to enable Adobe Acrobat/Reader X with DV 4.11

Problem

Adobe Acrobat and Reader X (10.0) have been released after the release of DV 4.11. Currently DV 4.11 does not recognize Adobe Acrobat and Reader X from the DV tray configuration application. The Adobe Acrobat/Reader option is grayed out.

Resolution

Please follow the following steps under each user profile that needs to have revocation checking in Adobe Acrobat/Reader X enabled via DV.

1. Add the following registry keys. You can add them by hand or place them in a .reg file and import them.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Security\cASPKI\cAdobe_CRLRevChecker]
"bGoOnline"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Security\cASPKI\cSPIs]
"iRevocationChecker"=dword:00000002

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Security\cASPKI\cSPIs\cRevocationChecker]
"t0"="MSCAPI_RevocationChecker"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Security\cASPKI\cMSCAPI_DirectoryProvider]
"iMSStoreTrusted"=dword:00000060

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Privileged]
"bProtectedMode"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Security\cPPKHandler]
"bCertStoreImportEnable"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Security\cASPKI\cMSCAPI_DirectoryProvider]
"iMSStoreTrusted"=dword:00000062

2. Remove the CRLs (if any) from the following location:
For Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0\Security\CRLCache
For Windows 7:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0\Security\CRLCache

3. Restart Adobe Acrobat Reader.

N.B. The steps above will enable revocation checking in Adobe Acrobat/Reader X but the DV tray application UI will still show Adobe Acrobat/Reader X grayed out.
