The Group object has tabs and fields identical to those of the User object. However, its purpose is different. The Group object defines the access rights for a group of Users. Rather than redefining the same rights for each individual User, you can define rights in a Group object and then associate Users with the Group. The User inherits all rights defined in the Group. For example, you could create a Group object that defines rights for all users working in a particular department or in a particular domain.
If required, you can then add individual rights for the User.
Groups do not have an object status and do not follow the standard object life cycle.
