About folders
The Integration-Services workbench of each Composer entity comprises
Folders, which are similar to standard Windows folders or directories.
Folders provide separate, distinct workplaces for storing and defining
objects. The existence of independent Folders allows users to group objects
together, for example, all the objects related to a single project, or
all the objects defined by one user.
The Folder name must be unique in each entity and all object names must
be unique within a Folder. For example: Source_Entity_name.Unique_Folder_name.Unique_object_name.
Composer provides two types of Folder:
- Work Folders
A Work Folder contains all the working components that a user,
or a group of users, can modify. It is the only type of Folder in which
you can create objects. Although several users can access the same
Work Folder simultaneously, only one user can access a given object at
a time.
- Prebuilt
Folders
A Prebuilt Folder contains a set of predefined objects imported
from another Entity. Objects can only be added to a Prebuilt Folder by
the source Entity. You cannot directly modify objects in a Prebuilt Folder.
However, you can reuse objects in a Prebuilt Folder by reference, as described
in Object
dependencies.
