Before deleting objects

Warning! Deleting objects can result in loss of important data.

You can only delete an object if:

• the object is not used by any other object
• the object properties window is not currently open
• the object status is ToBeChecked, Checkedor Archived

If the object status is Ready to Send, ToBeComitted (For Transfer CFT Enabler only), or Committed, you must remove the object from Server before you can delete it.

When you delete an object, you only delete the selected object. Any objects used by that object still exist in the metadata repository as independent objects. For more information on the object hierarchy and how objects use other objects, click here.

How to delete objects

To delete objects, always follow the same basic procedure. You can delete objects from the left pane or from the Entity Browser.

1. Select the object you want to delete.

2. To delete the object, use one of the following techniques:

• Click on the toolbar
• Right-click the object and select Delete from the dropdown list
• Select Delete from the File menu

2. A confirmation message is displayed. Click Yes to delete the object from the Folder.

If the object is no longer in use and you are able to delete it, the Log displays details of the time and date and the name of the user who deleted the object. If the object is still used by other objects and you are not able to delete the object, the Log displays a list of all the objects that use this object.
