KB Article #158245

Create Message Tracking administrator that can track all messages in the system

Problem

Create a new administrator that can track all messages in MailGate per company policy requirement.

Resolution

I. Prerequisites

Before assigning a user with an administrator role, you need to decide if the user will be local, whose password will be managed by MailGate, or an LDAP user (Active Directory, Lotus Domino etc.).

NOTE:   In case of a LDAP-based user, their login will depend on a fully operational LDAP server, and in an event of LDAP failure or outage, such user will not be able to login and administer MailGate.

II. Create local user

   1. Navigate to Administration > Users and Groups > Users and click on the New User button:

   2. Fill the user's details and preferences and click Save.

 III. Create the new administrator

   1. Navigate to Administration > Users and Groups > Administrators and click on the New Administrator button:

   2. Search for the user who will become the administrator and click on the Select button:

2.1 Local administrator - select the local user created in Section I

2.2 LDAP-based administrator - select the user in the search result. It should appear in the respective LDAP source tab (if found)

   3. Select the desired roles. Note this article focuses on Message Tracking Administrator, but you are free to choose more than one role. Once selected, click on the Assign button:

   4. To modify the Message tracking permissions, click on the pencil icon next to the role to change “None”:

   5. In the popup window select “All User Groups” (this provides full permissions) for all/any of the 4 subcategories:

   6. Before clicking OK, the page should look like this:

    7. Finally, the new administrator's settings should look like this (note the change from “None” to “All” for message tracking):
