Axway Composer > Setting up the infrastructure > Host > Creating Hosts

Creating Hosts

Before you define a Host, you must define at least one HostGroup (or alternatively use the root HostGroup) and your CommNetworks.

  1. In the Topography workbench, select File > New > Topography > Host.
  2. Complete the General tab.
    Closed View field descriptions

    Field

    Description

    Name

Enter a mandatory name for this Host. The name you enter here is used to reference a given Host throughout the software.

    Label

Enter an optional free-text description for this Host. You can use the Label as search criteria in the Entity Browser.

    Status

This field displays the current status of the Host, set to ToBeChecked by default. You cannot directly change the status in this field.

    HostGroup

The Host object must be associated with a single HostGroup. If you select a HostGroup in the left pane before you create the Host, this field displays the name of the selected HostGroup. Alternatively, this field displays the name of the Root HostGroup.

To modify the default value, select a parent HostGroup from the drop-down list. Alternatively, drag-and-drop a parent HostGroup from the left pane.

    OS type

From the drop-down list, select the operating system for this Host.

The list of available operating systems depends on the Axway products installed.

Since the CommNetwork and Server parameters depend on the operating system that you select here, you cannot modify this value after you save the Host object definition.

  3. Use the Communication tab to define the telecommunications network(s) for this Host.
