Creating Axway Servers

Before you define an Axway Server, you must create at least a CommNetwork (not applicable to Finance) and a Host.

  1. In the Topography workbench, select File > New > Topography > Configure new Axway Server.
  2. Complete the General tab.

    Contents

    Name

Enter a name for this Axway Server. The name you enter here is used to reference a given Axway Server throughout the software.

    Label

Enter an optional free-text description for this Axway Server.  This text appears in the hint bar when you position the cursor over the Axway Server name in the left pane. You can use the Label as search criteria in the Entity Browser Find tab.

    Status

This field displays the current status of the Axway Server, set to ToBeChecked by default. You cannot directly change the status in this field.

    Host

This field displays the name of the Host object where this Axway Server is located.

An Axway Server can only belong to a single Host. The Host that is selected in this field determines which CommNetworks are available for this Axway Server.

    Type

This field displays the Axway Server type. For example, Axway Integrator, Axway Transfer CFT, and so on. The Axway Server types depend on the Axway products installed with Composer.

    Template

To use an ServerTemplate, select a Template from the drop-down list. The Axway Server definition inherits all the properties defined for the selected Template.  For details, see Templates.

Keep in mind that any values that you enter manually for this Axway Server will override the Template values. If you subsequently update the Template, Composer still takes your manual entries into account.

To make the Template values override the manual entries, you must first delete the manual entries. The Template values are then automatically taken into account again.

    Broadcast parameters

The following parameters identify the address and port number of the Broadcast Agent. This Agent communicates with the Composer server and sends your configuration to the Axway Server for execution.

These parameters are required for send to Server operations.

Note: You do not need to specify the broadcast parameters for a Sentinel Server.

    Agent host

Enter the IP address of the Broadcast Agent.

You can enter up to 128 alphanumeric characters.

    Agent port

Enter the port number of the Broadcast Agent. This value must be numeric.

    Resource tag

    Resource

Optionally, use this field to specify the type of environment, for example Test or Production. By default, all Axway Servers belong to a Production environment.

The Server Browser groupsAxway Servers byenvironment type. If you want to send an object to Server in a test environment, you can immediately see the list of Axway Servers available in the test environment.

In addition, use this option to restrict user access rights depending on the environment type.

  3. Complete the Communication tab to define the communication parameters for the Axway Server.
  4. Complete the Attributes tab to add your own user attributes to the Axway Server.

    • Click on the toolbar to add a new attribute to the table. The left column displays the attribute name and the right column displays the attribute value.
    • Position the cursor in the Name field and enter an attribute name. You can enter up to 32 alphanumeric characters.
    • Position the cursor in the Value field and enter a value. To define multiple possible values for the same attribute: save, delete the value in the Value field, enter the new value and press enter.

You can then use the Find feature in the Entity Browser to search for objects based on their user attributes. For example, you could search for all objects with the user attribute c = UK. In addition, depending on the Axway product, you can also use an attribute name in a DML expression.

  5. In addition, the Axway Server dialog box contains the following tabs:

To accelerate Axway Server definition, you can apply a CommAdapterTemplate or a ServerTemplate to the Axway Server:

You can also include a Axway Server in a ServerList. Via a ServerList, you can apply mass modifications to all Axway Servers included in the list.
