How to use an Integration-Services-Diagram
The Integration-Services-Diagram is the top-level object in the Integration-Services workbench.
The purpose of the Integration-Services-Diagram is to provide a graphical representation of the technical part of a Business Process, or of a specific business flow in the Information System. The Integration-Services-Diagram ensures the integrity of all required transport layer parameters of the business flow between the various participants.
The different components involved in the business flow are:
When you send an Integration-Services-Diagram to Server, you send all the Channels that it contains.
Before you define an Integration-Services-Diagram, you must define the following Topography objects:
If you take a top-down approach, you can create the Integration-Services-Diagram first and then create the Application, Partner and Channel objects directly on the Diagram.
Alternatively, you can take a bottom-up approach and complete the Application, Partner and Channel definitions before you create the Integration-Services-Diagram. You can then add the completed objects to the Diagram. If a Channel already exists between two objects, Composer automatically adds the Channel to the Diagram.
In yet a third possibility, you can "mix" the definition, selecting some objects that have already been completely defined, and positioning other objects that have yet to be defined.
To define a new Integration-Services-Diagram, select New > Infrastructure > Integration-Services-Diagram from the File menu in the Integration-Services workbench.
Alternatively, define the Integration-Services-Diagram directly from the Infrastructure tab in the navigator pane. To define a new Integration-Services-Diagram from the navigator pane:
This window also comprises two standard tabs:
After you define an Integration-Services-Diagram, you must complete the definition of the objects that you add to the Diagram (if you created new objects on the Diagram). In particular, you must complete the Channel properties.
You can then send the Integration-Services-Diagram to Server. The software sends to Server all the objects that the Diagram contains.
You can use the Integration-Services-Diagram either as a global definition tool or as a check and analysis tool.
As a definition tool, you can add existing Topography objects and create new objects directly on the Diagram. After you position all required Axway Servers and external Applications or Partners on the Diagram, you can link them via a Channel object.
As a check/analysis tool, the Diagram is particularly useful if you imported an existing object set. When you position the imported objects on the Diagram, Composer automatically creates existing Channels between the software objects and partners. The Diagram allows you to check that all required Channels were recreated between the imported objects.
You can perform all basic operations on Integration-Services-Diagram objects. For details, see, Working with objects: Start here.
This object follows the standard object life cycle.
